I f you cant lead it,if you cant persuade it, if you cant give good example to it then you can always try flogging it. Corporal punishment, like UMNO, is a colonial relic abandoned by its exemplar, the United Kingdom, decades ago.
There is a theoretical basis for its use in that if your population is so poor that jail is an holiday and fines useless against those who have no money then flogging them MAY have some deterrent effect. To argue that it will have such an effect in protecting so called “official secrets” is ludicrous. It is no more than the bullies’ reaction to the exposure of the truth. Furthermore to prove that an ‘official secret” is actually such the secret itself must be exposed to the Court!
Assuming that Najib’s puppet Parliament agrees to the proposal to add this punishment can we enquire when he hinself will face trial for the same offence? If the Auditor General’s report on the 1MDB mass theft is an “official secret” when will criminal court judgments be added to the secrets list? After all Najis not only wants to hide hs crimes from public knowledge; he also wants to avoid prosecution for them. UMNO parliamentarians may wish to remember that criminal breach of trust is also punishable by caning!
In any case the whole project of trying to hide the truth is doomed to fail. If the Attorney General is so foolish as to display in public documemts proving that he is lying through his teeth then the truth will certainly out; if only by accident!. Malaysia has become a criminal State run by mega thieves and morons. It is up the the people of Malaysia to say enough is enough and put these criminals where they belong. Behind bars.
