Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Ahmad Rahman Dahlan has denied that former journalist Lester Melanyi got paid for a confession against whistleblower website Sarawak Report.
“No. It’s not true. You go and read (the report) carefully, ” he said…..
It was also reported that Sarawak state minister James Masing had commented that Rahman Dahlan had made a ‘wrong move’ by using Lester’s ‘confession’ .
To this, Rahman, who is BN strategy communications director, said the ‘message is more important than the messenger’.
He, however, admitted that he didn’t know if Lester was a credible person or otherwise
“I don’t know. The messenger is not important, what is important is the message,” he told reporters when met at Najibs open house in Putrajaya today.
This is a bit rich coming from a party that has been hell bent on trying to discredit Sarawak Report, in order to undermine hard evidence on 1MDB.
Does this ‘communications strategist’ not realise how such glaring inconsistencies and double standards diminish his own credibility?
His colleagues are desperate to paint Sarawak Report as a ‘forger’ in order to undermine our messages, for example.
But in Lester’s case, where the messenger has openly claimed he is a forger, Rahman says no matter as it is only the message that counts!
Meanwhile, in Thailand, UMNO are desperately claiming that Mr Xavier Justo has been paid, in order to make an argument that revelations on 1MDB cannot be believed.
Yet they say no matter Lester was paid for his easily disproved lies – even though it is something Lester has cheerfully admitted to!
If Lester Melanyi is UMNO’s best witness in the 1MDB affair then it tells you all you need to know.
