Police raided the head office of 1MDB on Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
Contacted by Malaysiakini, a senior police officer confirmed the raid, but refused to divulge details of the police action.
The 1MDB office is located on Level 8 of Menara IMC.
Journalists present were not allowed access to the office. Three police patrol cars and a van parked were outside the premises.
The special task force tasked with probing 1MDB’s controversial deals last Friday raided three companies – SRC International Sdn Bhd, Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd and Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd – as part of its investigations.
The MACC are to be congratulated. But their action is sorely belated.
As Sarawak Report reported at the start of this year all 1MDB’s documents and computer records were obliterated in advance of the arrival of the new CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
No one has ever denied this.
Better to start grilling and tickling the toes of ex CEO Shahrol Halmi, who knows exactly what happened from the original PetroSaudi deal to the US$3 billion bond issue with Aabar for TRX in 2013.
After which, he immediately resigned.
