Proper transparency would resolve the concerns about money going missing from 1MDB (again) and yet all that has been offered is an ‘assurance’ by 1MDB’s own Board of Directors. Time for the independent management from PWC to put their reputation on the line therefore and support the statements claiming that the fund’s secrecy around recent settlements conceals nothing untoward ……
At one point it looked as though they might lose their heist from 1MDB, now signals are that PN will again opt for an easy cash grab leaving millions in the hands of the original ‘joint venture’ frontmen from PetroSaudi who helped defraud 1MDB…..
The US banking giant has already accepted a Deferred Prosecution Agreement and paid record fines for the bribery of Foreign Officials and theft from 1MDB. Unless there is transparency over its separate secret settlement with the PN government Malaysians and others will only assume they have done it again……
Who has benefitted and who has lost from the lightening settlement by AmBank involving a scorching fine for its services to Jho Low & Najib over 1MDB – services that senior management and major shareholders like ANZ were surely well aware of? …..
It is pretty sickening to watch the likes of Finance Minister Zaifrul, who did precisely nothing as a banker to prevent the thefts from 1MDB, seek to take praise for the return of monies now. Meanwhile, he and his government have done nothing but threaten and intimidate journalists once more, to whom Malaysia actually owes the debt of gratitude for the unravelling of this scandal……
The DOJ may have fingered Topaz, Sheikh Mansour’s 1MDB funded yacht, but the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince had already off-loaded it to his Saudi ally MBS, according to reports…….
